UltraRob.com Jersey Update and Jersey Winner

UltraRob Jersey Front

UltraRob Jersey Back

Here’s the 2nd draft of the UltraRob.com jersey. It’s getting close. The blue along the bottom needs some tweaking. I think it needs to fade over a larger distance or at fade a U shape so that the fade goes up farther along the sides. The logo and design on the back also needs some changes to look right.

You can order a jersey below and pay with PayPal. I plan to finalize the order this Wednesday (July 7th) first thing in the morning. If you order after that, I can’t guarantee I’ll have your size. I’m ordering a few extras of common sizes of the club fit jerseys but don’t plan to for the race fit. If you want a race fit one, you’ll need to order by Wednesday morning. There’s the same sizing chart for both styles but the club fit jersey are quite a bit more roomy.

Thanks to everyone who gave their feedback on the 1st draft of the jersey design. Congratulations to Joe Grossi as the lucky winner of a free jersey!

UltraRob.com Bike Jerseys (You Could Win One)

June 30th, 2010

I’ve been planning to get UltraRob.com Bike Jersey made for a while and now they’re getting closer to reality. Below is an initial draft for the jerseys. It still needs some work but I wanted to show it to get your thoughts on it.

I’m getting them made in two versions. One version will have a 3/4 zipper and be unisex club fit (looser). I’m also getting a few made with full zip and in more of a race fit.

They’re telling me that if I get my order finalized by early next week, I’ll have the jerseys by the 2nd week of August.

Win One

To encourage feedback on they jerseys, leave a comment below by 8 AM this Friday morning, July 2nd and you’ll be entered to win one of the club fit jerseys.

Buy One

I’m also going to have the jersey available to buy. The 3/4 zipper club fit jerseys will be $50 and the full zip race fit will be $80. If you pre-order by this Monday July 5th, I’ll throw in free shipping. Unless I get several pre-orders for the race fit jerseys, I’m not getting any extras made so if you want one of them, you’ll need to pre-order. I’ll order a few extras of the club fit but pre-order if you want to make sure to get your size plus you’ll get free shipping.

I’ll get a PayPal button added in the next day or two along with instructions on pre-ordering.

Although the club fit jerseys cost quite a bit less, they still have a nice feel to them. I’ve heard people say that the Pactimo jerseys fit small. From the fit kits I have, I don’t think that much different than most of the jerseys I’ve collected in over 20 years of racing. The race fit ones though fit tighter than the club fit ones. If you’re local and want to try on one of the sample kits, let me know and we can figure out and time for you to try them.

Pardon the Dust

May 3rd, 2010

While this blog may not look much different today than it did last week, a lot has changed.  Over the weekend I switched to a different blogging system.  I’ve been working hard the last few weeks to move the old posts from the old system and keep the links working.

As I expected, the switch over didn’t go totally smoothly.  I think all of the old posts exist but a few links are broken.  Embedded YouTube videos also got stripped out.  I’ll be working over the next couple days to fix those things up.  If you see any other problems, I’d appreciate if you’d leave a comment on this post or shoot me an email.

10 Most Popular Blog Posts of 2009

January 4th, 2010

It’s always interesting to see which blog posts end up being popular. I can tell you after 4 years of blogging, I’m not very good at knowing what will be popular.

Here are the top 10 most viewed posts on UltraRob’s Adventures in 2009. Actually I grouped the ones about the Leadville 100 or they would have dominated the top 10. Interestingly the #1 and #3 spots were the same as in 2008.

10. 7 Mountain Biking Confidence Killers

I wrote this post after riding in Moab in 2008 with a neglected bike. A poorly maintained bike along with other things will hurt your confidence on a mountain bike.

9. 2009 Cyclocross Season Almost Here

This post has a very brief overview of cyclocross and a preliminary 2009 Colorado cyclocross race schedule.

8. How I Use Hammer Nutrition and E-CAPS Products

This post has been popular since I wrote it when I was training for the 2006 Race Across America. I still use the Hammer Nutrition products pretty much the same way. My nutrition during the 2006 RAAM was only slightly different.

7. Going Glamping?

This post by Deb is about people that want nearly as much luxury camping as they do in a 5 star resort.

6. Livestrong Tattoo

When I broke my derailleur cable in the Black Hills of South Dakota, I visited Rabbit Bike in Hill City to get a new one. The owner had a Livestrong tattoo on his calf.

5. Interview with Long Distance Cyclist and Author David Rowe

As part of the Ride of Your Life virtual book tour, David Rowe answered several questions about long distance cycling.

4. Mountain Biking Moab Slickrock Trail

The Slickrock Trail in Moab is a classic mountain bike ride. I’ve ridden it several times over the years and this is my ride report from March last year.

3. Leadville 100 MTB FAQ

With Lance Armstrong racing the Leadville 100 the last 2 years and the Race Across the Sky movie, there’s been a lot of interest in the race. The main Leadville 100 mountain bike FAQ page was the most popular but some of the sub posts also made it into the top 10. Spectating the Leadville 100 Mountain Bike Race and Lance Armstrong’s Leadville 2008 100 Bike also made it into the top 10.

2. Garmin Edge 705 Review – First Impressions

After not having a GPS on my bike or a computer at all on my mountain bike, I upgraded to the cool Garmin Edge 705. This post has my initial thoughts on it. Another Edge 705 post that was popular was Garmin Edge 705 Tip – Save Last Ride and Reset.

1. Top 5 Reasons Cyclists Shave Their Legs

The question I’m asked most about cycling is why do cyclists shave their legs. The 5 reasons I posted continue to be very popular. I also answer some questions in the Cyclist Leg Shaving Questions and Answers post.

Earnings Being Donated to Fat Cyclist Fund

May 19th, 2008

Lance Armstrong

Update: Susan passed away on August 5th, 2009

Update: During the month of June 2008, earnings are being donated to the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

As I wrote last week, today and tomorrow, May 19th and 20th, I’m donating the earnings from the cycling and outdoor gear search (actually all of this site) to Susan’s WIN fund.

For those that don’t know the story, the Fat Cyclist’s wife, Susan, has been battling breast cancer for a long time. It seemed she was doing fairly well but recently she started having some problems. Test revealed the cancer has spread to her brain Her doctor said she has tumors spread through her brain like dandelion seeds. The doctor has given them very little hope.

There are over 180,000 product listings from over 50 online stores in the cycling and outdoor gear search. I get a small commission if you buy something after you click through from this site. No matter whether you’re into cycling, hiking, water sports, skiing or some other outdoor activity, there’s gear for you. If you’re looking for bargains I’ve just added 2 new pages. There’s a page with the current top cycling and outdoor gear deals and another one with just the cycling gear deals.

Fat Cyclist JerseyIf you don’t have any gear you need to buy, you can still help out. You can donate directly to the PayPay account (no longer active) that has been set up for the family. Also the new Fat Cyclist jerseys go on sale today at noon central time. The proceeds from these jerseys will help the family.

Fatty is still thinking of other people even with everything going on. He’s putting together a raffle to raise $10,000 for the Lance Armstrong Foundation. You can read how to enter the raffle part way down this post.

How I’m Going to Help the Fat Cyclist and Family

May 12th, 2008

Update: Susan passed away on August 5th, 2009

On Thursday I wrote about Susan, the Fat Cyclist’s wife, and her cancer. I also wrote about the PayPal account (no longer active) that Kenny has set up to help the family. When I was out riding on Friday, I came up with a plan to help them.

I get payed a small commission when someone buys gear from the cycling and outdoor gear search and other pages of this site. NEXT Monday and Tuesday, May 19th and 20th, I will donate all commissions to Susan’s WIN Fund. Doing it next week will give some time for the word to get out.

If you have some money to donate, go do it now. If you have some gear you’re planning to buy, wait until next week. There are over 180,000 product listings from over 50 online stores in the cycling and outdoor gear search. They include cycling only stores and stores that carry gear for skiing, hiking, and camping.

You can also help out by posting about this on your blog or favorite forum.
