Ibis Tranny 29 Mountain Bike Frame 2016

Ibis Tranny 29 Mountain Bike Frame 2016

Ibis is never one to shy away from controversy, and the Tranny 29 Mountain Bike Frame is obviously no exception. By controversy, we of course mean the controversial way the frame is built, which allows for a bike that can transition between full cassettes and singlespeed. The heart of the Tranny is a feature called the Slot Machine, which governs chainstay length, adjusting it by up to 15mm in order to accommodate the differences between a singlespeed and a fully geared machine. No matter what your gearing needs are, the Tranny is never more than a single step away from meeting them. Both triangles are made from monocoque carbon, so regardless of how you run it, the Tranny takes advantage of its 29er pedigree by embracing speed without wasting watts due to high weight or low stiffness. It can also be split into two discrete pieces for ease of storage and transport.
