Vredestein Freccia Pro Tubular Tricomp

Vredestein Freccia Pro Tubular Tricomp

Everybody knows that tubular tires are the business when it comes to ride quality, but since they're decidedly more work than clinchers, you need a reliable set if you're logging training miles on them. So for everyone who rides tubulars well beyond race day, the Vredestein Freccia Pro Tubular Tricomp tire is right up your alley. It uses triple compound rubber, which is specially formulated for wet weather grip, and a reinforced casing that fights punctures, while preserving the buttery smooth ride you're after.Vredestein employs its triple compound rubber placement in the Freccia Tricomp. In case you're wondering what triple compound means, essentially, the center line of the tire is built from a harder rubber compound than the shoulders. And that means that the Freccias are fast rolling and hard wearing. However, the compound employed for the center line wouldn't provide the aggressive cornering grip that's needed from an all weather training tire, so a softer compound is used in the shoulders to boost cornering grip, and accordingly, cornering confidence. The 220 TPI tubular casing has a relatively high thread count, which helps these tires to roll fast over varying road surfaces. Basically, a higher thread count tire has a more supple casing, so the tire is able to deform with less resistance. The benefit is that instead of bouncing, the tire is able to roll through irregularities in the road surface, so you'll go faster with less energy spent. Adding to the training utility of this tire is a polyamide woven layer underneath the tread, which protects against punctures from the road debris that you'll no doubt encounter. But unlike many other puncture resistant tires, this layer does not extend into the sidewalls. That allows the sidewall of the tire to deform naturally, which means that you'll get puncture resistance while still enjoying the smooth ride provided by the supple casing. The Vredestein Freccia Pro Tubular Tricomp tire is available in the size ...
