While it lacks some of the premium features included in fullsuits that are upward of twice its price, the TYR Hurricane Cat1 Wetsuit still includes the same drag reduction, durability, uninhibited stroke movement, and easy onoff as TYR's top offerings. The Cat1 is the ideal choice for aspiring triathletes and veterans alike who don't want to deal with the hassle and expense of renting for training sessions and events. The Cat1's neoprene panels are laid out according to TYR's Free R. O. M. Range of Motion Zone design, which eliminates restriction in the shoulder for long reaching swimming motions. Neoprene isn't exactly as forgiving as the Lycra in your cycling kit, but TYR's clever paneling keeps your reach as long as your ambitions. The Speed Wrap Paneling on the legs and torso is actually 5mm sheets of Yamamoto Nano neoprene. The healthy thickness means more nitrogen bubbles per square inch, which in turn means more buoyancy with less effort. The panels are also SCS Super Composite Skin Coated, so they not only increase buoyancy, but they also reduce drag. The wrist and ankle cuffs also do their parts. The wrist cuffs are designed to stretch in multiple directions, so they keep out water without inhibiting your stroke. When you get to T1, the ankle cuffs are tapered to catch your shins, allowing the wetsuit to peel inside out for quick removal.
