Renowned for their efficiency in retaining heat and compressible properties, the feathers and fibers of down have an incredibly soft, comfortable feel and, despite advances in synthetic materials, continue to provide the best warmth to weight ratio of any insulation available. The one weakness of down insulation is that it loses much of its ability to maintain warmth when it gets wet.Sierra Designs utilizes their own Core Comfort Technology CCT which is a unique, insulation construction method that uses a body mapping process to prioritize the location of down within the sleeping bag to increase warmth in the places you need it most, like the torso and feet. Less insulation is used in areas where the human body doesn't lose as much heat, like the lower legs, and results in weight savings. Maximum warmth and loft over the torso and in the foot box are created by an advanced, double baffle system. This combined technology provides additional warmth precisely where it is needed most.Other features of the Pyro 0 Degree include a fully insulated, ergonomic hood design that helps reduce heat loss by keeping your head warm and an insulated draft collar with an adjustable drawcord to lock in warmth on especially cold nights. An insulated draft tube behind the snag free zipper keeps cold air from reaching the inside of the sleeping bag and a 60, two way zipper allows you to vent the bottom of the bag on warmer nights.
