While it may at first be overshadowed by its full carbon, tubular siblings, the CXR 60 C is not to be dismissed as simply a budget option in the CXR family. Mavic trusts its own Maxtal aluminum in the initial rim construction, a material that sets itself apart from other aluminum alloys with its higher strength to weight ratio compared to standard 6061 alloy. It creates rims that are lighter and 30% stronger than 6061 alloy. After Maxtal, Mavic adds a 12k carbon fairing to the rim, shaving extra grams that a full aluminum construction would've added. This blended construction method delivers a rim with all of the aerodynamic advantages of deep dish carbon, along with aluminum's ability to take on daily abuse. The 60mm depth is versatile enough for triathlon, TTs, and criteriums, and they're less unpredictable than the deeper 80mm CXRs when the wind picks up. The textured aluminum surface offers incredible durability and reduces braking distance by 18% compared to conventional alloy braking surfaces in any weather.
