Marker Kingpin 13 Binding

Marker Kingpin 13 Binding

The Marker Kingpin raises the bar for safety and performance in backcountry bindings. It combines a state of the art tech toe piece for ultimate touring efficiency, with a custom designed alpine style heel piece for power transfer. Kingpins are among an elite few tech style bindings to earn TUV certification for DINISO 13992 a huge step forward in safety. The Kingpin's alpine style heel piece gets rid of the pin heel system traditionally used in tech bindings. Instead of pins which insert into the heel of the boot, the Kingpin uses an over center pivot lever to hold the boot in place, just like an alpine binding. Additionally, the heel piece utilizes lateral release, giving the boot more elastic travel before releasing, allowing the skier more time to recover as well as cushioning the force of the release. There are two climbing aids in the heel unit one at 7 degrees and one at 13. These are easily flipped using the basket or tip of a ski pole. The toe piece uses 6 springs most tech toes have only 4 for increased energy transfer and to minimize pre release. Stepping into the binding is made easier due to Boot Stoppers that align any brand of tech purposed boots directly with the toe pins. The Kingpin is slightly heavier than other tech bindings, but like all tech bindings, the weight is not lifted with each step when touring like it is with rail bindings.Kingpins are perfect for backcountry skiers looking for safer, higher performing bindings on the downhill, without much sacrifice when touring. Power, performance, safety. Hail the King! KINGPIN TOE PIECE The PinTech toe piece for the MARKER KINGPIN. Extraordinary in design, innovative in its technical execution. The highlights include the Sixpack springs for powerful grip of the boot these toe pieces are unlike anything that's come before six springs instead of four. An integrated crampon adapter is naturally also part of the standard version EASY STEP IN: Boot stops position the boot in the right place and make it easy to step in, regardless of the brand or model of boot. Simply push the toe of the boot up to the boot stops, apply pressure to the toes and you're already finished. The pins click securely into the inserts. The system will then only open if the pre configured release force is produced. SIXPACK POWER SPRINGS Six springs made of high performance steel deliver a boost in energy capture compared with traditional PinTech toe pieces. The KINGPIN 13 delivers even higher spring compression than the KINGPIN 10 to accommodate for athletic skiers who demand uncompromising power transmission without a single misstep. The annoying, and in many cases highly dangerous, blocking step has also been eliminated! WALKING COMFORT The inserts have pushed the pivot point further forward toward the toesballs of the feet, allowing the foot to roll more ergonomically and 'naturally,' which cuts exertion. The pins click directly into the boot, which reduces the lifting force required to walk. This more direct connection also provides better control and steering during walking and especially when traversing on hard snow. The combination of optimized pivot point, better rolling behavior and the fact that the heel piece doesn't rise together with the binding frame saves a tremendous amount of energy during the ascent. This is most noticeable on long tours covering many vertical meters. XXL POWER TRANSMITTER The heel construction is a revolution for any PinTech binding, with contact points placed very wide and far apart to hold the boot heel along a broad surface on its outermost edge. This eliminates any wobble in the tipping forces used to initiate turns and lets power be transmitted smoothly via the binding into the ski. Because skis are primarily steered using impulses originating in the heel, the KINGPIN heel pieces are highly decisive in achieving maximum, highly direct power transmission, top control and pure bliss in the descent. This is another key benefit over previous PinTech bindings that transmit power via two simple metal pins positioned close to one another in the boot's heel, which leaves the boot seated in a highly wobbly manner, and builds a highly indirect path for the steering impulses to reach the ski.
