For the 1617 season the Nomad Freeride Series has been introduced by Icelantic. Icey has taken their spirited flagship Nomad and now offer it in four widths. The Nomad 115 is a fatter snappier brother of the 105. Increased float and creative flex will have you grinning ear to ear as you bounce, float and carve down the mountain The Nomad 115, with a rockered tip and tail and 2mm of camber under foot, allows the rider to display his true colors. When engaged, the camber allows for railing turns and for commanding the hard pack. The rockered tip and tail allow the ski to float in powder or to pivot so that you can add some freeride fun. The Nomad 115 tends to be a stiffer ski that allows the rider to power through turns while maintaining enough pop to be playful. Just like a Nomad, who likes to wander from place to place, this ski has precision movements and a spirited freedom that will take you to new places in the Mountains. The Nomad 115 starts with a poplar core which is seen frequently in skis manufactured in the USA because of its strength to weight ratio and the lively feel. Next comes a triaxle fiberglass laminate the fibers in this laminate run laterally, vertically and diagonally. The combination of three directional fibers adds greater strength while allowing less resin to be used . . . think weight savings. The topsheet is made from cabonium, a carbon fibre matrix that allows for great strength and torsional rigidity at only a fraction of the weight of fiberglass.
