Any brand can throw together a set of pajama shaped thermal bib tights, but Giordana's FR C Trade Men's Bib Tights represent the pinnacle of fit and function and they have for multiple product generations. The secret lies in the tights' construction, which takes place entirely in Giordana's own Italian facility and gives the brand complete control over everything that bears the iconic centaur logo. With the FR C Trade Bib Tights, brand namesake Giordana tells us she wanted to keep the focus on creating a classic Roubaix model, so the tights eschew the DWR treatment of the G Shield and AV lines, making the FR C Trade Bib Tights a pure expression of thermal cycling kit. The tights' body is a blend of two materials: Super Roubaix and Super Roubaix Carbon. The former is Giordana's go to thermal material because it combines the thermal insulation of a soft, brushed inner face with stretch and breathability that while understandably not quite on par with the Lycra used in the FR C summer bib shorts go a long way toward informing the legendary fit of the FR C bib tights. This construction is supplemented with strategically positioned panels of Super Roubaix Carbon wrapping the knees and extended down the calves. While both materials are gently compressive, the Carbon version ups the compression game a little more, providing additional support to your knees when spinning in cold weather makes them even more vulnerable. The fabric's compressive stretch is highlighted by the tights' paneling, which is laid out in a cycling specific pattern that we wouldn't recommend for gymnastics but that figuratively disappears when you're on the bike. Obviously, the body materials differ from the FR C summer shorts, but the bibs are virtually the same. Instead of saddling you with an unnecessary layer of thermal insulation on the chest, the FR C Trade Bib Tights end their thermal work at the lower stomach, transitioning to a lightweight, stretchy, and soft bib construction that doesn...
