Fischer's been putting Nordic athletes on podiums at World Cups and Olympics for as long as anyone cares to remember, but that doesn't mean the company only makes mean race boots for the likes of Petter Northug. The RC5 Skate Boot, for example, is a friendlier, more comfortable boot that's perfect for skiers who want to push themselves but aren't willing to sacrifice comfort. It's easy to dial in the fit of the RC5, thanks to its heat moldable liner and form fitting Speed Lock lace system, and you won't get cold or wet with Comfort Guard insulation, a sealed zipper, and a waterproof, breathable Triple F Membrane wrapping your foot. There isn't even a need to keep your boots triple sealed in plastic bags when you're driving home, because Fischer gave the RC5 a Cleansport NXT antimicrobial treatment to keep them smelling as fresh as a snowy morning. Being related to Fischer's top end race boots, performance comes naturally to the RC5. It has a stiff R3 PU sole that resists torsional twisting, driving power into the ski rather than wasting it in boot slop, and a race fit last with an injected heel cap that fits snugly without squeezing the life out of your feet. Canting adjustments on both sides of the ankle let you align the hinged polymer lower cuff with your leg, and a hook and loop power strap tightens up the upper cuff, providing lateral stiffness with a good amount of fore and aft lean so you can get aggressive when the time is right.
