The cycling industry is a protean space, to say the least: always innovating, changing, desperate for the next greatest advancement in aerodynamic micro dimpling and well, you know the story. Regardless of what the marketing machine might claim in order to get our attention, De Marchi's Aerodinamico Men's Bib Shorts remind us that bib shorts can just be bib shorts. Furthermore, the Aerodinamico affirms that the best thing that bibs can do in the saddle is not get our attention instead, they should disappear once they're on and we're off. We're happy to report that the Aerodinamico does just that. That disappearing act is due to the main body composition of a nylon based synthetic with a 20% Lycra content. It strikes the right balance between gentle compression, confident hold, and breathable ventilation without resorting to the absurdities of construction that turn some cycling shorts into caricatures. Frankly, the Aerodinamico also just looks damned good. Timeless. It's hard to imagine the champions of yesteryear in the latest and greatest however, we can very well picture the likes of Coppi himself wearing these just like he wore a rainbow jersey made by Elda De Marchi. This recipe of simple, classic effectiveness has been De Marchi's defining element since the days when the brand was using actual deer skin for its chamois. The aesthetics may be just as smooth as they were then, but the chamois has certainly changed. It's a far cry from Emilio De Marchi's buttery soft buckskin model, replacing leather with a multi density foam core wrapped in an anti odor microfiber. It's still buttery soft, but now it's just better at all the things that made the brand's mid century shorts so popular.
