The addition of a forefoot Rock Shield keeps stones from destroying your shoes and feet that is, unless you approach a rocky trail like a toddler rampaging through an older brother's block castle. With its' 10mm drop, the Cascadia's certainly not a minimalist shoe, but it sure won't feel like lead even when you take into account the moisture wicking lining and classic lace up construction.
