The XTR M9020 1 1x Trail Crankset brings the chain holding tenacity of Shimano's one by drivetrain to the big travel bikes and crunchy terrain where it really belongs. As with the lighter Race version, Shimano forgoes carbon fiber for crank arm construction in favor of its signature alloy alchemy. The Japanese firm shapes the crank arms into a beefed up version of the hollow cavity HollowTech II arms used on the Race cranks. Though they're still technically HollowTech II arms, they feature more reinforcement for the greater impacts and torsional forces that trail and all mountain riding typically produce. The Trail crank's tall, chain retaining titanium teeth are also reinforced with solid bodies compared to the Race version's lighter but less durable hollow teeth.
