Make no bones about it the Shimano XC70 shoe is carbon soled race ready footwear. The difference between, aside from the price, this shoe and its much more expensive sibling, the XC90, is the grade of carbon fiber. But, with a weight penalty of about ten grams a shoe, however, the XC70 is definitely not a cut rate shoe by any measure. The XC70 starts with a scratch resistant synthetic leather upper. Shimano built this upper with mesh panels in critical areas to allow cooling airflow to move through the shoe. Closure is handled by two asymmetric hook and loop straps that let you adjust your fit on the fly even clicked into your pedals. The third strap is a micro adjust ratcheting buckle that provides even more precise fit adjustments. The insole is thermo moldable. That means that the interior of the shoe conforms exactly to the shape of your foot as you ride for a perfect custom fit. Shimano finished the XC70 with a stiff, efficient carbon fiber sole for optimum pedal feel and instant power transfer.
