Why ride up mountains when you can fly up them The super lightweight Shimano WH 9000 Dura Ce C24 tubular is the preferred climbing wheel of champions like Chris Froome and Bradley Wiggins. Thanks to its shallow 24mm depth, feathery tubular rim, and smooth rolling Dura Ace hubs, the C24 is the climbers weapon of choice. The C24 rims are built around a superlight 24mm deep carbon fiber tubular rim. The 24mm depth makes these wheels perfect for climbing, since there's pretty much all excess weight has been cut away, leaving merely a platform on which to mount tires. While the rest of the carbon tubular line gets the newer 24mm width to improve handling in crosswinds, the C24 sticks with the traditional 20.8mm width to further reduce weight, since winds aren't such an issue while climbing or with such a shallow rim, since there's not much to catch the wind. The core of these wheels though are the all new, redesigned Dura Ace 9000 hubs. Shimano hubs are already legendary in their own right, and things just got even better with the 9000 11 speed version. Smooth rolling bearings, 11 speed compatibility, and a lightweight aluminum, off set, high flange hub shell makes these wheels stiff, smooth and aerodynamic. The all new OptBal spoke lacing system also gives these wheels a bombproof ride while reducing weight.
