Salomon's Rocker2 Series has been kicking out some of the most popular powder skis over the last five years, and it doesn't show any signs of letting up. Back for another round in the deep stuff, this year's Rocker2 122, the fattest in the lineup, thankfully comes back entirely unchanged apart from some shiny new topsheets. It's still a pow guzzling fatty with a 122mm waist, rockered tip and tail, and hook free five dimensional sidecut to help you float through bottomless conditions like a feather on the wind and smear, surf, and slide your turns like you're allergic to carving. The beauty of the Rocker2, though, is its Carve Zone, which is a section of traditional camber and relatively aggressive sidecut underfoot, so you can rally some groomers back to the base without feeling like a deer, without losing that playful feeling in deep snow.Sure it's big, but the Rocker2's super nimble for a ski that's almost as wide as your Great Aunt Gertrude. The full wood core is light and energetic, with honeycomb tips and tails to reduce swing weight and vibration and boost their overall agility. The edgy monocoque cap construction keeps the ski light and flexible. Salomon made sure the extra wide reinforced edges ended several centimeters short of the tips and tails for a less hooky feel, and laid up some vibration dampening rubber Pulse Pads over the core for a smooth, silky ride that'll have you hooting and hollering your way down the hill.
