Direct mount front derailleurs have improved mountain bikes by giving designers more freedom in designing suspension platforms. So, yes, we really like them, but not nearly as much as SRAM. With its new X0 3x10 S3 Direct Mount Front Derailleur, you gain precise shifting for bikes that require a S3 low direct mount front derailleur. The X0 front derailleur utilizes SRAM's direct 1:1 actuation ratio in order to provide a precise level of shifting. Essentially, this means that the derailleur cage moves the same distance as the amount of cable that's being pulled during a shift. So, what's the benefit Well, this ratio provides you with powerful shifts, without expending much energy. And since precision is the name of the game when it comes to shifting, the X0's steel cage minimizes flex. In turn, this ensures that your shifts are crisp and not lagging. Speaking of shifting, the X0 front derailleur is designed in conjunction with SRAM's X Glide shifting technology. Where the ramps on traditional chainrings are oriented to pickup the chain from the middle of the link, the X Glide system picks up the chain from the pins. SRAM claims that this doubles the opportunities for up shifting, while providing near instant gear shifts. And when you add in the smaller cage, as compared to the X9 front derailleur, the X0 keeps your chain in better control, moving the gears exactly when you need it to. The SRAM X0 3x10 S1 Direct Mount Front Derailleur is intended for use only with triple chainring cranksets and requires the use of an S3 low direct derailleur mount. Please note that this front derailleur is only intended for use with SRAM 1:1 shifters.
