When SRAM recently redesigned its road and cyclocross hydraulic disc brake systems, it built the S700 Hydraulic Disc Brake system to deliver the same incredible stopping power and modulation to older 10 speed drivetrains. For the new S700, SRAM reconfigured the lever body, and revamped the master cylinder with an all new bore design and new seals, to provide more efficient and consistent breaking performance in all types of conditions. The S700 also has a new higher capacity fluid bladder for improved modulation, and the caliper spring was given even more pad contact and a smoother retraction for more stability. SRAM shaved the shift paddles to make them lighter and more ergonomic. The new design also allows for greater clearance with thicker gloves, which is a bonus for cyclocrossers. The S700 features aluminum brake and shift levers, and stainless steel hardware. The system is fully sealed and easily serviceable, and each unit is pre bled and includes the brakeshift lever, hosing, and caliper. Rotors are sold separately. SRAM strongly recommends using its Centerline rotors.
