Premium down insulation, an array of thermally efficient features and an EN temperature rating of 25 degrees combine to equip the lightweight 1 lb 8 oz, compressible Rab Neutrino 400 sleeping bag for 3 season backpacking performance.The Neutrino 400 is insulated with certified 800 fill power goose down. Super lightweight, durable and water resistant Pertex Quantum fabrics combined with the down insulation reduce the overall weight and allow this bag to be easily compressed for travel. Renowned for their efficiency in retaining heat and compressible properties, the feathers and fibers of down have an incredibly soft, comfortable feel and, despite advances in synthetic materials, continue to provide the best warmth to weight ratio of any insulation available. The one weakness of down insulation is that it loses much of its ability to maintain warmth when it gets wet. In an effort to standardize temperature ratings and properly inform consumers, European Norm EN testing uses a thermal mannequin to determine the performance of a sleeping bag in a range of temperatures. The Comfort rating is meant to reflect the temperature at which an average adult woman 132 lbs can enjoy a comfortable night of sleep and a Lower Limit rating is meant to show the temperature at which an average adult male 176 lbs can enjoy a comfortable night's sleep. A third rating, Extreme, is meant only to show the survival rating for a standard woman and is not advisable for use in making buying decisions for general use. NOTE: The testing assumes that the user of the sleeping bag will be using a sleeping pad of 1 thickness and wearing long underwear, a hat and socks. The EN comfort rating of the Neutrino 400 is 36 degrees F and the lower limit rating is 25 degrees F.Despite its lightweight construction, the Rab Neutrino 400 makes no sacrifice with regards to performance and features. Eliminating cold spots and providing comfort, the trapezoidal baffle design ensures that the Neutrino 400 insulation is distributed evenly throughout the bag. Low level side seams create a barrier against cold air. A contoured, ergonomic hood with insulated collar mirrors the design of Rab's popular outerwear jackets and helps reduce heat loss by keeping your head warm and comfortable. An insulated draft tube behind the 34 length zipper keeps cold air from reaching the inside of the sleeping bag and anti snag webbing tape helps to avoid irritating and damaging snags.
