POC's Crane Helmet sets the industry standard for lightweight, highly protective dirt jumping helmets, but the Crane MIPS takes things one step further by incorporating MIPS, a technology designed to protect your grey matter in the case of oblique from the side impacts. Most helmets deal effectively with straight on impacts, which are relatively rare, but don't handle more common side on rotational impacts very well. MIPS technology allows the polycarbonate and ABS shell to rotate slightly around the EPS foam liner, dispersing impact forces when you fall at an awkward angle not that you ever would. The EPS liner is made with two densities of foam, a hard inner layer to protect against high intensity impacts and a softer inner layer that cushions effectively during slower, low energy falls. The in mold construction keeps the Crane MIPS looking sleek and weighing just 420 grams, while the passive vents keep your cerebellum cool and and the size adjustment system helps you nail a perfect fit. The interior of the Crane is even treated with Polygiene, an antimicrobial agent that fights off the bacteria that cause odor, so you won't have to strap your helmet onto the roof rack to enjoy a pleasant ride home from the park.
