The Osprey Alpine Pocket may not look like much, but there's a lot to it. The one zippered pocket carries a shovel and probe secured and easily accessible. A sleeve behind the back panel totes a 50 ounce reservoir, and doubles as a storage place for shoulder straps and the waist belt. The beaver tail holds a coat while you charge the summit, and other items bulkier items. You can also string a snowboard or skis through the beaver tail. A bungee cord straps down clothing on the way up, and your skins on the way down. This pack makes a great companion to your larger winter pack, and with 400 cubis inches, works effectively as a yo yo or summit pack. The Osprey Alpine Pocket conveniently attaches to other Osprey packs such as the Crescent, Luna, Aether, Ariel, Ceres and Transporter via a sophisticated strap on system with Duratek strips and D rings on either side of these packs' front panels.
