Though it was the tour de force for speeding through variable conditions, hardpack, crud, and even small children, even we have to admit that the original Wrenegade was, at times, a bit much. With that in mind, ON3P has redesigned the Wrenegade into a more functional platform offering true all mountain performance, at two different waist widths. Having trimmed a little off the dimensions and turn radius, while maintaining the courage inducing stiffness and power of the original, the Wrenegade 112 presents a refined version of the directional, west coast daily driver. For those looking for the same stern but toothy grin in a narrower package, the Wrenegade 102 carries the banner established by the Tychoon and Vicik of previous years. ON3P s Elliptical Rocker Profile aids float in soft snow, while a stiff, slightly rockered tail adds maneuverability and allows speed to be dumped quickly when needed. Both models feature a redesigned tip shape which optimizes stability in crud and other variable conditions. Bamboo Cores: The heart of every pair of ON3P skis is a FSC certified, vertically laminated, 100% bamboo core. Bamboo provides a responsive, yet damp characteristic to our skis that we have grown to love. Our core shape gives the ski strength where it needs it, better resisting bending and breaking. Bamboo is also a quick growing, environmentally friendly grass. For 1516, ON3P has made the change to an improved bamboo material, resulting in a 10% decrease in core weight. 2. Unidirectional Carbon Fiber: Each ski incorporates unidirectional carbon around the core, adding pop, stiffness, and dampness without any significant increase in weight. 3. 1.8mm 4001 Durasurf Sintered Base: Our Durasurf 4001 base material provides our skis with better glide and protection from damage compared to other sintered and extruded base material, and is 38% thicker than the industry standard. To ensure each ski is ready to go out of the wrapper, every pair of ON3P s receives a four hour hotbox treatment 4. 2.5mm x 2.5mm Extra Thick Edges: We use a 34 wrap for our 2.5mm x 2.5mm, Rockwell 48 steel edges. The 34 wrap allows the tipstails of the skis to flex, thereby decreasing the risk of delamination. 5. UHMW Sidewalls and Tip Spacers: UHMW Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene is an incredibly strong material, has a higher abrasion resistance than steel, and resists cracking unlike ABS. 6. Tri Axial Fiberglass: 19oz or 22oz Tri axial Fiberglass provides torsional and longitudinal stiffness, ensuring proper edge hold and power transfer. 7. VDS Vibration Dampening Strips: VDS rubber is applied to the edges sidewalls, acting as a shear layer that provides improved bonding strength and vibration dampening. 8. Extra Wide Binding Mat: An additional layer of fiberglass mat provides increased screw retention and prevents pullouts. To ensure proper coverage for all types of hole patterns, we run our binding full width on every ski we make. Our binding mat also features double bias fiberglass, increasing torsional stiffness underfoot. Elliptical Rocker Profile: The rocker profile and tip shape are combined into one progressively changeing elliptical arc, which allows the tips to place faster in powder, deflect less in variable snow, and helps the effective edge running within the rocker length to engage in a more natural, effortless way. Elliptical Sidecut: The sidecut consists of an elliptical arc that begins at boot center and gets progressively smaller as it extends toward the tip and tail of the ski, resulting in a ski that carves harder the more it is put on edge, yet remains stable when it is skied flat.
