Mekk Alpina AL RX 2.0 Cyclocross Bike. When push comes to shove, if we had to choose one bike to do it all a cyclocross rig would be the ideal selection. And with a stellar aluminum frame, carbon fork, 10 speed Shimano Tiagra components, plus Shimano BR CX77 mechanical disc brakes, the Mekk Alpina AL RX 2.0 cyclocross bike is definitely your prescription for fun and excitement. While carbon fiber is all the rage these days regarding frame material, how quickly people forget how superbly a well made aluminum frame performs in the world of cyclocross. The Alpina AL RX 2.0's frame features triple butted 6061 aluminum for strength, light weight, and performance. It's also disc brake specific, features oodles of mud clearance, and sports water bottle braze ons to keep you hydrated on extended adventure rides. Up front there's a disc specific carbon fork that also helps keep the weight down while inspiring confidence over any terrain. Shimano Tiagra 10 speed components are rock steady performers no matter how wet and muddy the trails may get. The shifterbrake levers, front and rear derailleurs, 50x34T compact crankset, plus 12 28 cassette are very reliable and are easier on the wallet without compromising performance. Shimano makes superb disc brakes, too, and the Alpina AL RX 2.0 has their BR CX77 mechanical disc brakes on board for the ultimate in all weather stopping power. Mekk's house brand Saturae aluminum disc wheels are plenty tough and feature a disc specific rim that's also perfect for larger volume cyclocross tires. Rounding out the build are Saturae aluminum handlebars, stem, and seatpost for light weight and strength while a bit of Italy in San Marco's ERA Start Power saddle ensures you'll be riding in both style and comfort in the woods or on the road. Mekk is the brainchild of Mark Edwards ME and Ken Knight KK, a pair of Brits with extensive experience in high performance cycling at both the racing and production end of the spectrum.
