The Pro Short RAS Backpack from Mammut has all the same great ski specific features as the original, but in a women's specific size and shape. The extensive range of features includes A frame and vertical ski attachment, vertical snowboard carry, and two attachment points for ice axes and poles. That's just the start, though, because the Pro Short also boasts a stowable helmet carrier for your brain bucket, a compartment for a shovel and probe, and the ability to work seamlessly with your hydration reservoir. Inside the main compartment, which can be accessed via a full back panel zipper, there's a pouch for your goggles, and there's another small pocket for essentials on the removable padded hip belt. What's most important about the Pro Short, obviously, is the RAS avalanche airbag. Short for Removable Airbag System, the RAS can be popped out of the back when you're riding the resort or going for a summer hike, and easily popped back in when it's time for winter backcountry adventures. The large airbag deploys with the pull of a handle to help you stay on the surface of an avalanche, and the safety leg loop makes sure the back stays securely on your back even if you get tossed around. Please note that this system does not include the Mammut refillable cartridge, which is available separately. And please remember, this airbag system is NOT a guarantee that you will survive an avalanche get educated, get the right tools, travel with partners, and be smart out there.
