It's well understood that sleeves are surplus to pretty much everyone's requirements, so Louis Garneau did you a favor and made the Alpha Men's Cycling Vest. It provides lightweight core insulation on chilly rides with a windproof front, stretchy and breathable back, and highly packable design that lets you stuff it easily into a jersey pocket. Wind protection is paramount, so Louis Garneau makes the front of the Alpha from X Lite 19, a completely windproof fabric that is, as the name suggests, seriously lightweight. Lining the front is Polartec Alpha 60g synthetic insulation, which traps heat close to your body for increased warmth, while stretchy, warm, and breathable Polartec PowerStretch Pro softshell at the back helps regulate your temperature and provide mobility. The armhole binding is also stretchy, so you won't be restricted if you take the Alpha onto the Nordic ski trails or out for a cold weather jog. The Alpha might be lightweight and easily packable in its own pocket, but its features aren't minimalist. Two zippered pockets, one at the front and one at the back, let you stash away snacks and a multitool, while the offset front zipper, brushed collar top, and soft zipper garage prevent chin irritation. An internal flap behind the zipper keeps wind from penetrating to your skin, and plenty of reflective accents help you stay visible when you're on the road.
