When the integrated dual valves are opened, the open cell foam automatically begins to absorb air and expand. Once you've given the Basecamp Pad adequate time to inflate, you can expand it to its fullest loft by adding a few extra puffs of air or adjust the firmness by releasing air before fully closing the valves.
