Unlike it's nutritionally challenged namesake, the 2016 Ibis Trans Fat Complete Fat Bike is a one way ticket to boosting activity levels and maintaining form through winter with epically fun adventures in the snow. Featuring RochShox's Bluto suspension fork, Shimano's XT one by drivetrain, a dropper seatpost, and fat yet responsive four inch tires, this bike is a sprightly and versatile whip ready to tackle any snow or sand excursion. Just make sure to give your other bikes a heads up that they'll have some time to rest and recover this winter. The Trans Fat's carbon fiber frame is inspired by Ibis' Tranny 29 hardtail trail whip, keeping the same front end and incorporating a slightly slacker head tube for smooth handling. The Trans Fat also has some radically apparent departures from the Tranny, most notably a new rear triangle built to accommodate those fatty tires. Compared to other frames built for fat tires, Ibis fashions the rear triangle to match best with slightly smaller four inch tires, retaining all the fat bike versatility we love for snow and sand while offering a lighter, more responsive ride than beefier donuts. Ibis incorporates a 100mm threaded bottom bracket shell, providing enough clearance for a one by or double drivetrain regardless of your tire choice. Naturally, there's plenty of extra clearance for mud, snow, or anything else you're likely to find clinging to the tires as you test the boundaries of off trail cycling. The head tube is tapered, which takes advantage of the incredible stiffness provided by the Bluto. It's also equipped with two bottle cage mounts to keep you hydrated for long spent traversing snowy landscapes.
