At the heart of Ibis' Tranny 29 Special Blend Complete Mountain Bike is a feature called the Slot Machine, which governs chainstay length, adjusting it by up to 15mm. The Slot Machine lets you customize the bike's rear triangle for whatever set up you want to run. Short, nimble chain stays for a properly tensioned single speed chain longer stays to accommodate a front derailleur the Tranny is always one step away from fulfilling your dreams. Both triangles are made from monocoque carbon, so whether you run it with the Shimano double drivetrain it's spec'd with or make the leap to a singlespeed setup, the Tranny takes advantage of its 29er pedigree by embracing speed without wasting watts due to high weight or low stiffness. The bottom bracket rides low for stability taking berms at speed and the thin seatstays and oversized chainstays stress comfortable compliance and stiff efficiency, respectively. The bike's Deore build is supplemented with a Race Face Respond crankset, and Stan's NoTubes' ZTR Arch Rapid wheels keep it rolling steady and tube free. The Ibis cockpit components are dependable additions that keep the price reasonable without feeling like a downgrade, and the build is finished with a 100mm X Fusion Slide RL fork.
