Like the mountain itself, summer plays by a different set of rules. We're commonly faced with making decision between excess protection at the cost of overheating, or too little protection at the cost of breathability. Luckily, though, Gore Bike Wear's Countdown apparel series addresses this very conundrum with an all mountain, summer focused approach to design. Along these lines, each piece is focused on providing the right tool for the task at hand. And in the case of the Countdown 2. 0 Summer Women's Gloves, Gore focused on providing heightened levels of breathability, flexibility, and shock absorbency. To achieve this, Gore applied the materials wizardry with which its name is synonymous. Starting at the back of hand, Gore placed a sophisticated blend of nylon and elastane. Accordingly, this provides an ample level of stretch that's at once lightweight and breathable. So, dexterity is assured without the risk of over or underwhelming element protection. Furthering this principle of thermo regulation, Gore also placed ventilation holes along the inner side of the fingers and hand. Additionally, the back of hand also features a series of mesh inserts. So, breathability remains constant, even when your body temperature starts to rise. However, given the Countdown's intended application, durability played a key role in the design phase. Gore strengthened the material between the thumb and forefinger, knowing that this is a common stress point while gripping the bars. Additionally, the closure system features a Velcro width adjustment strap that's been cleverly placed inside of the wrist, instead of at the common articulation point directly under the palm. To absorb trail chatter, these gloves feature a rather involved design at the palm. At the first layer, Gore placed a layer of foam padding. This layer has a variable density, meaning that it's either thicker or thinner depending on its location. You gain a reliable level of grip without compromising any abs...
