If riding encompasses more for you than strictly singletrack or road, you need a helmet that functions just as well on a commute through the city as it does on the trails. Thankfully, that's exactly what Giro's designers had in mind when they developed the Revel. Now available with MIPS, the Revel has a classic design that won't look out of place on the road or trail, and a lightweight, durable construction that provides protection without adding bulk.Giro starts with its In Mold polycarbonate shell, then fuses it to an EPS foam liner, paying close attention to strengthening the areas around vents for a breathable but durable outer layer that absorbs initial impact. MIPS, or Multi Directional Impact Protection System, refers to the Swedish technology added to the helmet in the form of a thin inner layer that rotates slightly upon impact to absorb the brain damaging rotational energy created in certain crashes. For protection from the elements, Giro includes an anchored snap fit visor, and for quick and easy fit adjustments, its Acu Dial fit system, which allows you to customize the fit on the go with one hand by spinning a dial at the back of the helmet. No need to worry about long hair fitting in place either the Revel was designed to accommodate ponytails with ease. In case your ride starts or ends without the sun, a reflective decal on the back of the helmet helps ensure you'll be seen by motorists coming from behind. The Revel includes 22 vents for breathability, and the helmet is only available in Giro's proprietary universal shell size, so there's no need to worry about measurements or being in between sizes.
