The Giro Range helmet is unlike any snow helmet on the market. What sets it apart is its Conform Fit Technology. More than just a band that tightens around the back of the head, Conform Fit Technology literally forms to every rider's head shape by expanding and contracting with the turn of a dial. It's like having a custom made helmet, but without having to shell out thousands of dollars. The fully integrated Conform Fit system utilizes a 2 piece shell that forms to the rider's head shape. This innovative design also makes the Range the lowest profile helmet that Giro has ever made. No more spaceman jokes. Of course, the Range also incorporates Giro's other features, like an adjustable vent system, an integrated camera mount, and Fidlock magnetic buckle closure. Perhaps most important, however, is the MIPS system. The MIPS Multi directional Impact Protection System structure integrates easily into the Range's bones without altering its look. MIPS is the separation of the EPS foam shell from the retention system the part that grabs your head via a semi floating suspension system, so that when the shell absorbs an impact, or two, or four, in a crash, it doesn't transfer that energy directly into the skull. Instead, forces are isolated, saving your head and neck from undo impacts. Developed in Scandinavia more than 10 years ago, the MIPS system has been continually revised and applied to an ever growing number of helmets in different sports, and it's been credited with saving countless noggins from more serious injury.
