From first glance, you can see that the Giro Empire ACC Limited is different. And, while the use of laces in the design may appear to be an aesthetic choice, there is a reason for laces that is strictly performance based. The Empire ACC's most obvious divergence from the norm is laces. Giro uses laces because they offer seven contact points instead of three. This makes it easier to get your fit just right. The laces are made of a tough, no stretch material and the lace holes are reinforced with metal. The upper is made with perforated Evofiber, a lightweight, breathable microfiber. The outsole is Easton's EC90 carbon to reduce weight and increase sole stiffness. EC90 also provides a low 6. 5mm stack height for pedal feel and efficient pedal transfer. Finally, Giro used its SuperNatural Fit Kit insoles with interchangeable arch supports and anti bacterial treatment no more hot spots and no more stink.
