Garmin Varia Headlight

Garmin Varia Headlight

Whether you ride in traffic regularly or your schedule occasionally forces you to log miles after the sun's gone down, you know it's important to see where you're going and stay visible on the roads in low light conditions. Garmin's Varia Headlight offers the safety benefits you'd expect from a headlight, along with a few savvier features that you can take advantage of if you have compatible Garmin technology. On its own, the headlight uses 600 lumens to light the way and keep you visible with a focused beam in three settings: high, low, or auto. High and low are self explanatory to any bike light veteran, but when paired with Garmin's Edge 1000 computer, the head light's auto mode uses ANT connectivity to monitor speed and control the light beam accordingly. At higher speeds, it automatically projects the beam further ahead so you can see approaching obstacles from further out at lower speeds, the light is kept closer to maximize the visibility of terrain immediately in front of your wheel. The Varia headlight can also use an Edge 1000's light sensors to adjust brightness throughout your ride in response to changing light conditions. When paired with other Edge models, the light can be toggled on and off remotely. For times when you're riding truly in the dark, the headlight includes a high beam cutoff to prevent the equivalent of you flashing your high beams at oncoming motorists and cyclists.
