G3 ION 12 AT Bindings

G3 ION 12 AT Bindings

The Rookie of the Year is Back The G3 ION is entering its second year in what is becoming a tech binding renaissance. The creatives at G3 have incorporated several contemporary features that make the ION one of the leaders in the touring binding ranks. The heel on the ION features two major innovations while it still uses the traditional post and large spring for the DIN, another spring is added under the binding which allows 6mm of fore and aft travel. This creates forward pressure allowing the skis to flex in a negative camber while keeping the heel of the boot in the binding. In the past when skis were flexed in an extreme manner the heel would prematurely release, this is no longer the case. The heel unit has multi directional pivot and ergonomic heel risers. The heel piece can be placed in touring mode by either rotating it counterclockwise or clockwise, overall this feature leads to more efficient travel and transitions. All adjustments on the binding length, 2 DIN, and attachment to the ski are made using posi drive hardware. What this means is that skiers need only one tool to adjust everything. G3 boasts that the ION offers the industry's best retention strength of any tech binding on the market. G3's attention to retention strength decreases the likelihood of pre release, allowing the binding to be skied aggressively without locking the toe piece. A lateral channel has been added under the front of the toe piece allowing the skier to clear out snow and ice build up. In other tech bindings snow and ice buildup has caused improper binding function and pre release. With innovative features and strong construction, the G3 ION is a forerunner in the Tech Binding space race. we do not recommend skiing a tech binding with the toe piece locked out under any circumstance Features Include: An adjustable 5 12 release setting keeps you safe when skiing hard. Adjustable forward pressure helps keep your boot attached to the binding while maintaining consistent release values. A 33% wider 40mm freeride mount helps you transfer more power from your boot to your edges. A Pop up Boot Stop makes it easier to place your boot into the toe piece. Two heel lifters that are easy to use with a ski pole. Bi directional heel piece allows you to rotate the heel whichever way you choose. A unique brake lock system that allows the binding to be put into tour mode with the brakes extended, meaning your skis won't run away during transitions. Brakes stow only when the heel is depressed in tour mode.
