In the case of the Fuji Transonic 2.8 Limited Edition road bike, we went to Fuji and asked for their incredible Transonic frame and FC 440 full carbon fork, but with a Shimano 105 11 speed spin. We couldn't be more pleased with what ended up online and in our stores an aerodynamic carbon road bike with cutting edge technology and terrific value. Designed to conquer Europe's toughest climbs and equipped with today's most elite technology, the Fuji Transonic 2.8 road bike is meant handle whatever you throw at it. The Transonic 2.8 features a Shimano 105 11 speed mechanical drivetrain, Vera Corsa DPM 27 aero clincher wheels and Fuji's patented, highly lauded C5 high modulus carbon frame and FC 440 fork. All of these luxuries translate into the ultimate long distance ride in supreme comfort. About the Frame: The Fuji Transonic frame has been design to help you cut through the wind. Fuji's engineers spent several years wind tunnel testing and FEA modeling the Transonic frame to achieve the right shape to help you gain an advantage on your competitors. They found that while aerofoil shapes may be aerodynamically efficient, they compromise the rigidity of the frame. They also don't perform as well in a cross wind, and can compromise your control of the bike. To solve this problem, Fuji uses a wide cross section tube shape made from C5 high modulus carbon fiber that cuts through the wind but increases stiffness, and increases your control of the bike at speed. They also borrowed some of the most successful wind cheating elements of their hyper fast Track Elite and Norcom Straight TT models. An aerodynamically contoured head tube fork downtube junction blends the frame areas together to ensure smooth, uninterrupted airflow over the front of the bike and across the downtube. The seat tube seatstay junction is sculpted to reduce turbulent air exiting the seat tube in the Transonic's case, contoured around the rear brake to shield it from the wind. The seat tube is also contoured around the rear wheel to minimize drag. About the Components: The Shimano 105 11 speed drivetrain on the 2.8 delivers exceptional performance without breaking the bank. That's because 105 got a serious dose of trickle down technology from its Dura Ace and Ultegra big brothers. 105 delivers unmatched rider ergonomics and performance, thanks to powerful, intuitive index shifting that lets you downshift by one or two cogs with each shift in the rear, and powerful, front derailleur movement that makes going from the little to big ring a cinch. Combine that with SIS rear derailleur technology for the ultimate in precision and unmatched reliability, and you've got one of the best, most affordable high performance shift systems on the market. The Transonic 2.8 also features a mid compact 5236 Oval crankset and wide ranged Shimano 105 1128 cassette. This gearing allows you to climb and descend with equal ease. No spinning out or grinding it out. The rest of the bike is built for top performance. Oval Concepts aluminum stem and handlebars, aerodynamic Transonic seatpost, and a pair of Oval Concepts 327 clinchers that are perfect for training, racing, or gran fondos.
