Fuji began its quest to produce the fastest cross country hardtail on the market with the introduction of the SLM in 2009 and saw early success when Fuji sponsored athlete Annika Langvad won back toback Marathon World Championships aboard it in 2010 and 2011. In 2014, the SLM was completely redesigned to be even lighter and better handling, with its geometry revamped to emphasize speed and power above all: a short wheelbase with exceptionally short chainstays to slice through tight singletrack, paired with a long and low top tube and short head tube for an aggressive rider position.
