The C5 carbon weaving process translates into a frame that is incredibly stiff without adding unnecessary weight. Internal molds are used to smooth the walls of the frame in critical areas. This helps eliminate wrinkles in their sheets of carbon, maximize resin flow for strength and gain greater compaction. The Altamira frame has a Shimano Press Fit BB86 bottom bracket for added stiffness and weight savings. The tapered headtube gives the rider better handling and realization of power transmission, while the ETC chainstays add increased compliance and stability, giving the Altamira 2.3 an unbelievable feel whether you're climbing or sprinting. About the Drivetrain: The Altamira 2.1 is equipped with the hugely popular Shimano Ultegra 6870 Di2 electronic 11 speed drivetrain. Ultegra 6870 replaces traditional cable shifting with powerful, precise, computer controlled servo motors, ensuring that you get the best shifting performance possible. With Di2 it becomes possible to shift the front derailleur under load, or shift multiple gears in a single shift. Plus, the computer software can be updated and customized for your riding preferences. The battery is good for up to 1,200 miles per charge. The revolutionary 4 arm crank also allows you to run any road bike chainring combination without having to worry about BCD sizing any combination, from 4634 to 5542 will fit on the new crank. About the Components: Great components are critical on a high performance oriented road bike. Fuji selected a carbon Oval Concepts 905 seatpost and an Oval 310 alloy butted handlebar with a 313 alloy forged stem. This is the best blend of lightweight and dependable performance.
