After receiving feedback from riders looking for a less conventional saddle profile, Fizik's answer is its Versus line of saddles, which takes riders' body shape and flexibility into consideration and includes a pressure relief channel. In the case of the Arione VS K:ium, the saddle features ample flexibility as well as a touch of extra cushioning compared to the more race minded Arione 00, appealing to riders who aren't as concerned with shedding every possible gram. The long, flat top allows you to use a greater portion of the saddle as you react to changes in gradient, effort, or hand position on the bars. The Versus range of saddles makes use of thicker foam than more standard, weight focused Fizik counterparts. Fizik shapes the Arione Versus K:ium specifically to provide additional padding and support for sit bones, using Wingflex technology in the carbon reinforced nylon shell to ensure the rear of the saddle conforms to your body. Wingflex allows the saddle some suppleness in key areas along the outer wings, yielding a fit reminiscent of custom saddles, without flexing so much that you're required to sacrifice power transferring rigidity while riding. Fizik uses a material called K:ium to construct the Arione's rails, made using a combination of metals added to Titanium for a material that is 8% lighter than solid Ti. The added materials also allow K:ium to absorb exhausting road vibrations more efficiently, and they help reduce the likelihood of corrosion over time. A smooth Microtex cover is stretched over the entire saddle to protect it from the elements, and the synthetic material exhibits antimicrobial properties while resisting fading, stretching, and cracking.
