You don't have to give up riding on premium race saddles in order to find a saddle that actually feels comfortable to train on. Whether racing often or not, most of us don't want to have to sit on a heavy, cushy block of foam just to feel protected on the bike. Luckily, Fizik and other manufacturers are catching on, which means they're creating saddles like the Antares VSX Carbon Braided Saddle that accommodate more than just one body type. As part of Fizik's Versus line, the Antares VSX is constructed with a 20mm pressure relief channel along its center. Soft, low density cushioning surrounds the relief zone, accommodating riders who have average flexibility termed chameleons by Fizik's Spine Concept fit definition. Despite these comfort enhancing additions, the Antares VSX still follows the same length and width dimensions as its race ready Antares cousins, and the carbon braided rails keep the saddle's weight low while absorbing road noise for a smoother, less fatiguing ride. A carbon reinforced nylon shell sits atop the carbon rails, and it's designed to strategically flex just enough to provide give without feeling like a trampoline underneath you. The engineered flex teams with the saddle's race inspired shape so that it won't impede your leg movements while pedaling. Fizik finishes the saddle with a durable Microtex cover, which loyally serves to protect it from exposure to the elements.
