The old Candide 3. 0 was awesome, but things are rarely so good they can't get better, so Faction tweaked the board a bit this go round, and early returns are saying that the new version is the best Candide yet. Faction slimmed the waist down a smidgen, from 112mm to 108, which gives the ski a slightly more pronounced sidecut 20m in a 182, and smoothed out the rocker profile for a better feel on hardpack and in variable snow. The resulting Candide is a slightly better mixed conditions ski, but it hasn't lost any of the energy, stability, and playfulness that made the original so good. To keep things light and lively, Faction built the Candide with a balsa wood core that's reinforced with flax fibers for extra strength and pop. There are also biaxial and triaxial fiberglass laminates, which give the ski tons of edge hold and torsional stability, and a binding mount reinforcement so you don't pull out a heelpiece at an inopportune time. A sintered P Tex 4000 base is the finishing touch, because going fast is pretty key if you're gonna make that step up happen.
