We could wax poetically about FOX Racing Shox's 2017 line of 32 Float Forks, more specifically their optimal balance between cross country efficiency and plush, trail taming travel. However, we'd be missing the biggest upgrade for 2017, notably the stiffness enhancing addition of Boost thru axle compatibility. As such, the 2017 FOX 32 Float 29 120 3Pos Adj FIT4 Boost Fork retains its praised features from 2016 FLOAT air spring and Fit4 damper, but with the accommodation of a quick release Boost thru axle. Why is this such a significant overhaul, and what does that mean for your riding Simply put, Boost widens the standard 15x100mm thru axle to 15x110mm, radically improving the stiffness of larger 29 inch wheels. In fact, SRAM claims that upgrading your 29ers' front thru axle to Boost standards increases its stiffness to a comparable 26 inch bike. An impressive claim, to say the least. Ultimately, this means ultra precise tracking and unflappable poise through the rough stuff. Carried over from 2016, the Float air spring is both lightweight and highly sensitive, with excellent small bump compliance. Its progressiveness can be adjusted with the addition of air volume spacers sold separately, giving riders the ability to customize its feel across varying disciplines and terrain types. Further contributing to its customizable feel, the 32 Float's Fit4 damper serves up 3 position adjustability, with the ability to switch between Open, Medium, and Firm settings on the fly. When it's fully open, the Fit4 damper gives riders 22 clicks of low speed compression adjustment for fine tuning its feel to the terrain at hand. Furthermore, the Fit4 damper is slightly revised for 2017 for improved sensitivity without sacrificing its overall support.
