Eddy Merckx Mourex 69 Ultregra Disc Road Bike 2017. The 1969 Tour de France featured an epic 214.5 km stage from Luchon to Mourenx, and when the young Eddy Merckx soloed to victory, a star was born. Now that legendary result has been captured in bike form: the Eddy Merckx Mourenx 69 road bike. Designed for racing long distances or gran fondos, the Mourenx 69 has a comfort oriented geometry without sacrificing performance because, after all, you still want to win the day. The Mourenx frame, with 7 sizes for ideal fit, is designed with a slightly higher head tube and a shorter top tube giving you a more upright, but still aerodynamic riding position. Shaped top tubes, pencil thin seatstays and a wind slicing fork mounted to a carbon frame with an oversize bottom bracket means you can mash all day and yet steer through a crowded field or a tricky descent with precision. The Mourenx 69 has the ideal range of components to match the high end frame. The Shimano Ultegra 11 speed 6870 component group delivers some of the smoothest, fastest shifting out there while the Ultegra FC 6800 crankset borrows the four arm spider design from the higher end Dura Ace line, losing weight and gaining rigidity, all for your benefit. With a 5034 chainring, you've got plenty of teeth for top end speed and a small ring that is ideal for spinning up those steep hills. With great speed comes great responsibility and the Shimano BR RS805 hydraulic brakes with 140 mm rotors can handle that emergency stop or that long twisty descent without fading. The cockpit comes from Deda Elementi, famous for their high standards, functionality, design and gorgeous aesthetics. Prologo saddle and DT Swiss R24 Spline wheels with Vittoria Rubino Pro 25cm tires complete the package.
