Seeing ENVE and Chris King in the same sentence is enough to make most riders start drooling, and we have to say that it's a little bit justified. ENVE's synonymous with super strong, feather light, and buttery smooth wheels, and Chris King has become renowned as the premier maker of smooth, reliable, and sexy componentry, so when the two of them come together, as with the ENVE M50 Chris King 27. 5in Wheelset, the results are predictably mouthwatering. The M50 is basically the replacement for ENVE's classic XC rim, and it's even lighter than its predecessor a full 50g per rim lighter. The bead has been redesigned, and it's now a beadless hook bead, which is lighter and stronger than previous iterations. ENVE's also increased the internal width of M50 to 21mm, which gives the tire a rounder profile for more grip, better cornering, and lower rolling resistance. And, of course, the entire rim is made with a rigid and ultralight carbon fiber layup that keeps things impressively stiff and serves up the on rails feeling that ENVE is known for. Now for the hubs. Like all Chris King products, the ISO hubs, including the seals and bearings, are made in Portland, Ore., to standards that exceed the industry standard by ridiculous amounts. 72 points of engagement in the freehub mean that it engages immediately, so there's no lag between you pushing on the pedals and your wheel starting to turn. Both front and back wheels come with burly thru axles that won't twist under load, sapping your power and control, and the M50 is also available with either a SRAM 1x XD freehub body or standard freehub body.
