Dynafit's Top Tier Freeride Boot New blood has been added to the Dynafit Boot lineage. The Khion Carbon features an engineering prominent, stout construction that tours just as well as it charges. The Khion Carbon is a boot that can be driven by aggressive skiers and has an ergonomic and efficient touring structure. The keystone feature of this boot is the redesigned walkski mode that features a simple yet effective latch system that that actively engages the boot and tightens up all the points that drive power from the cuff into the lower vs a traditional pin that passively tries to prevent the cuff from driving forward. This is reinforced with a magnesium spine that adds enhanced power transfer and durability. The snow dynamic profile, features an inward taper of the shell and the low profile buckles allow the boot to move smoothly through the snow and avoid catching on branches, rocks and ice. Improving on comfort and fit, the Khion has three areas in the shell that have been pre punched: the big toe, instep and the heel spur. This will decrease the need for additional boot work after purchase. The liner uses a cinch cord to provide a snug fit and keep snow out and warmth in. The buckles are a new design that allows them to be flipped into walk mode with one swipe of the hand, leaving the buckle still attached and flush with the boot, this builds into the sleek profile cutting down on snags. The shell construction is a two piece design with an overlapping cuff system much like an alpine boot. With the two piece design the boot has a much more progressive flex than the Vulcan or TLT6 giving it a more intuitive and drivable feel. A new formula of Pbex is used for the shell that is lighter and has more elasticity than previous formulas. The high overlap construction provides great upper ankle support and power transfer but there is a caveat it is difficult to put on and take off. Much like a NASA spacesuit, this is one piece of equipment you should plan to keep on through out your mission.
