Fast ascents and exhilarating descents, the Atomic Backland Aspect 85 has been redesigned to be a competitive alpine touring ski for those who want to progress in backcountry and charge the skintrack. The Backland Aspect 85 enters Atomic in the age of lightweight touring skis that are not just light but strive to bring on piste performance to the backcountry. An early rise tip, camber underfoot and a stiffer, flat tail. From the tip to center the Aspect has a moderate flex that tapers into a stiffer flex in the tail in order to drive the ski through turns. 85mm underfoot allows the ski to transfer edges quickly and maximize edge hold on steep and hard snow. To save time and your brain waves, custom cut skins are included. Lightweight materials and ski alpinist design makes the Atomic Backland Aspect a worthy tool for ski mountaineers. Atomic uses a combination of poplar and karuba woods to maintain weight savings and allows the rider to feel what the ski is doing. Torsional rigidity is increased with a carbon backbone that runs the length of the ski. A step down sidewall construction aka half cap cuts the weight and keeps enough torsional rigidity. A titanium plate is added under the binding mount which increases power transfer to the edge and also adds torsional rigidity.
