Weather doesn't avoid cities. We've encountered some seriously tough conditions downtown, and a flimsy trench coat or purely fashionable parka just doesn't cut it in these kind of conditions. Arc'teryx' Patera Women's Down Parka is a little different, though. Constructed with the company's trademark technical quality and attention to detail, the Patera will keep you warm, dry, and stylish as you stroll into the teeth of the most intense urban storms. The Patera's innovative Down Contour Construction and Down Composite Mapping place down and synthetic insulation in separate places to maximize warmth and mobility. The 750 fill European goose down lines the core and sleeves where you need plush warmth, and Coreloft synthetic insulates the hood, hem, collar, and underarms to eliminate the chilling effects of rain, wick moisture, and increase your freedom of movement. Durable and lightweight 75D polyester gives the Patera a sleek, sophisticated look that belies that fully waterproof nature of the 2L Gore Tex waterproof and breathable membrane, fully taped seams, and DWR coating. In true Arc'teryx fashion, the Patera packs in plenty of technical features, but does so in such a way that you hardly notice they're there until you need them. The gusseted underarms are totally forgettable, until you realize how freely you can move your arms, and the stretch knit internal cuffs are easy to miss unless you're thinking about how warm and comfortable your wrists are. The insulated hood has a laminated brim and cinches up with hidden drawcords, and the internal draft collar forms a super tight seal against your neck when you feel like battening down the hatches against the storm. A soft collar lining protects your chin, and two zippered hand pockets and an internal drop in pocket act as finishing but essential touches.
