Alpinestars decided to go its own way with the Hyperlight 2 short, which keeps it simple, light, and airy. The Hyperlight has the necessary features stretch panels to increase range of motion, vents to cool things down, and pockets for storage but it waives the stuff that a guy who primarily rides downhill doesn't need. What you're left with is what you need. And less is better.Alpinestars built the shorts with strategically located stretch and vent panels. On the back and in the crotch, spandex panels stretch for an unlimited range of motion. This also adds to the shorts' durability, because it stretches rather than tearing. The synthetic fabric pulls moisture away from your body to keep you dry and comfortable, even in the heat of the summer. Alpinestars also added zippered mesh vents on the thighs that push hot, stale air out and allow fresh, cool air to flow in and around your body. Stretch ripstop reinforcements at the hem add durability. The shorts also include hook and loop waist adjustment straps that allow you to perfectly dial in your fit and a mesh lining that allows air to flow through the shorts.
