3T seems to take pride in its ability to mix the up to date innovations shaping the future of cockpit technology with traditionally inspired design elements for kit that simultaneously pleases both the tech nerds and history buffs among us. The Stylus 25 LTD Seatpost is no exception, blending a monocoque, high modulus carbon post and saddle clamp with a 25mm setback for more vertical compliance and added stability on fast descents as compared with the zero offset model. The LTD's obligatory nod to the past is the intuitive Stylus clamping design, which is reminiscent of the single bolt operations from generations past but without the awkward, finicky drawbacks. Unlike those single bolt clamps, the new Stylus clamping system secures the saddle with two bolts situated just inside of either saddle rail. This more effectively distributes load pressure, which is a must for clamping carbon to carbon, but it also eliminates the need to maintain saddle angle while tightening the single clamping bolt and keeping the wiggly clamping bracket in place. It's a simplified, more secure system that any amateur home mechanic can adjust without need to refer to a detailed manual. Despite its all comers ease of use, we do recommend using a torque wrench tuned at or below the max suggested torque of 10Nm while tightening the twin bolts. This tolerance is relatively high for any cockpit component, and we're especially impressed given that unlike the carbon post and alloy clamp of the Team model or the Pro model's all alloy construction the LTD pits carbon against carbon to reduce its claimed weight by 55g to less than 75% of the Team seatpost. That high tolerance speaks volumes about not only 3T's carbon fiber expertise but the confidence the Italian company has in the durability of its high modulus carbon fiber, which is unique to the LTD model.
