XXC Magazine Issue #5 Cover

Last spring a new downloadable magazine focused on endurance mountain biking was launched. The magazine is XXC. With it’s great stories and photos, each issue has made me want me to get out for an epic adventure in the dirt.

Issue #5 is now out and features race coverage and photos from The 24 Hours of Moab, The Crocodile Trophy Stage Race, The Scott 24 and Iron Cross VII. They also talk with Women’s 24 Hour Solo National Champion- Eszter Horanyi and to Monavie/Cannondale’s Jeremiah Bishop.

Gravel grinder junkie Corey Godfrey takes a look at the right gear for epic gravel rides, and it shares some information on the the coming 2010 season of Gravel Grinder races and Endurance Cross races. Allison Mann gives her views on a day in saddle at The San Jacinto Enduro, Namrita O’Dea shares another recipe in the EnduroNut Corner and much, much, more.

Some of my photos from the 24 Hours of Moab and the Leadville 100 mountain bike race are included. On the cover is one of my photos of Womens Solo National 24 Hour Champion Eszter Horanyi.

Although the first 4 issues were free to download, issue #5 costs $2.99. That’s still a good price for 63 pages of great content with only a handful of ads. Even a better deal is you can get the magazine free with XXC gift packs. For example you can get the magazine, the very nice XXC “Inspiring Saddle Sores” ringer T, 3 XXC stickers and 2 packs of Chamois Butt’r for $15.

If you haven’t seen the magazine, you can still download the first 4 issues free.

I burned through all the free editions last night. Great mag! A lot better than most of the crap out there. I really enjoyed it.

Another new (print) bicycle mag I found recently that I like is "Bicycle Times". It's not about racing or training, but rather is focused on touring, commuting, cycling for fun with family, etc. I find it very refreshing, as there are many other aspects to cycling other than racing that I enjoy, but don't think there's really been any other mags covering them 'til now.
